Solar panel for home 1kw price in India - Guide for Beginners

So you are planning to install a rooftop solar plant for your home and worried that will it be in your budget or not? This guide will help you in choosing the best Solar plant for your home.

A typical Indian family with 2-3 BHK with normal appliances (*ACs/Heaters & Geysers not included) can consume 3-4kwh units daily. For that 1kw solar system would be perfect which can reduce your electricity bill and save you a substantial amount of money.

If your consumption is more than that, you can opt for a 3KW or 5KW solar system as per your requirement and availability of space.

What is the solar panel price for 1 KW in India?

The Govt. of India controls the Solar energy industry and has decided the benchmark costs. No vendor can charge you more than that for the Solar System. According to the notification, which was released by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy in July 2020 the Benchmark Cost of a 1kw Solar panel System is Rs 47 per watt & Rs 52 per watt for the Special States.

Solar panel for home 1kw price in India is 47,000 INR approx. But it may range up to 52,000 INR depending on your State/UT.

  • All other fees & taxes etc.

*But the cost of Net metering &  batteries are not included in these benchmark costs.

You have to apply at your DISCOM for changing your meter to a Solar Net Meter at your own cost.  So 1kw on-grid solar system price in India is RS47000 - RS 52000 + Solar net metering Cost. Whereas 1kw off-grid solar system price in India will be Rs RS47000 - RS 52000 + Batteries cost

How much Subsidy I can Get for my 1kw Solar System?

The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy has an objective of producing 40,000 MW from the Rooftop Solar System till the end of 2022. For achieving this the ministry is encouraging the domestic user to opt for Green energy by giving them huge subsidies.

Central Govt. Subsidies are as follow:

S.no

Capacity

Subsidy (%)

1

From 1KWp - 3KWp

40% of the Benchmark cost

2

From 3KWp - 10KWp

20% of the Benchmark cost

3

Up to 500KWp for RWA/GHS

20% of the Benchmark Cost

Along with that some state Govt. are giving additional subsidies which will reduce your installation cost up to 70%.

So let us calculate the price for a Solar System of 1 kW:

                                                         = Benchmark cost for 1kw - Subsidy (40%)

                                                         = RS 47000 - RS18800

                                                         = RS 28200 + (net metering cost)

Disclaimer: These prices are as per Govt. specification & notification. Vendors can charge you extra for extra services or better quality products.
